Key Points
Nvidia plans to invest up to $500 billion to manufacture AI supercomputers in the U.S. over the next four years.
The initiative aims to boost domestic production amid rising global demand and trade tensions.
Nvidia is partnering with Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL to build and test AI supercomputers in Texas and Arizona.
Nvidia has unveiled plans to invest up to $500 billion over the next four years to manufacture AI supercomputers entirely within the United States—a first for the company.
Continuing a trend: The initiative aims to bolster domestic production capabilities amid escalating global demand for AI infrastructure and growing trade tensions. At the heart of the strategy is the production of Nvidia's advanced Blackwell AI chips, which has already commenced at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
Multiple collaborations: To further this effort, Nvidia is building supercomputer manufacturing plants in Texas, partnering with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas. Nvidia is also collaborating with companies like Amkor and SPIL for chip packaging and testing operations in Arizona. Collectively, these partnerships will encompass over a million square feet of manufacturing space dedicated to building and testing Nvidia's AI supercomputers.
Made in America: "The engines of the world's AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time," Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said, adding that domestic manufacturing would enhance the company's ability to meet the surging demand for AI technologies, strengthen supply chains, and increase resilience. Nvidia's investment aligns with the U.S. government's push to revitalize domestic manufacturing, particularly in the tech sector.
